Of all the drawings I did over the years, this one ranks up there as one I'm really proud of. It's a tri-fold (3-panel) panorama of the Marvel mutant group Excalibur as it was back in the early 90’s. Depicted from left to right is Shadowcat, Lockheed, Nightcrawler, Kylun, Phoenix, Feron, Captain Britain and Megan. I began penciling this as one page, and it grew into three. At the time, I was drawing these kinds of superhero things and having someone like Kevin, Jay or Devin ink it, then I’d turn around and airbrush it or color it with oil pencils. I’m very proud on how this all turned out – the human body was hard for me to draw, and I think I did a fairly good job at it here, with maybe the exception of Megan, who I redrew several times.
The original artwork is on three 8.5 x 11 inch pieces of cardstock that are taped together with drafting(!) tape on the back so it can be folded neatly into a standard folder. This piece is done totally in pencils.
