I’m almost done with the optical discs Carl sent, with three left. I was able to get a batch of recovered contents off to him on Friday. Here’s where I stand with everything:

Optical Discs

37 of 40 discs archived (92.5%) | 8.24 GB

3.5″ Floppy Disks

146 of 149 disks archived (98.0%) | 97.6 MB

35 of 56 disks with Cubase files processed (62.5%)

185 files converted to MIDI format

12.3 GB of video recordings created

5GB Hard Drive

Recovery in progress

5.25″ Floppy Disks

Not started

Zip Disks

Not started

Cassette Tape

Not started

Studio Infrastructure

Inspired by all the archival going on lately, I’m preparing for a large paper scanning project as soon as all the data recovery is completed. This consists of mostly paper materials that are currently being stored in archival-safe sleeves in three-ring binders. These are being stored in the cupboards in the studio, but I want to free this space up. As I scan, I’ll be transferring the paperwork into clear, airtight bins that can accommodate hanging folders (thanks to Carl for the inspiration on this). I’ll also throw a desiccant bag into each bin to ward off humidity.

Of course, once scanned, I’ll be able to more easily process these items into the Annals.

Miscellany

Video games added this week:

Atari 2600: Adventures of Tron | Demon Attack

PS3: MX vs. ATV: Untamed

Wii: Cabela’s Survival: Shadows of Katmai | Pirates: Hunt for Blackbeard’s Booty | SSX Blur

Blog post: How the data recovery process is going, some studio organization, and some new (to me) video games.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[47,29,3,7

post-2304","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-annals","category-retro-computers","category-studio","category-video-games
["GET
