I finished Lego Star Wars on Monday night. The game is pretty cool, and I made it all the way through the story line. You can actually go back and play this mode called Freeplay, which allows you to use any of the characters you unlocked during Story mode and get to hidden areas you couldn’t before because your characters at the time lacked the skills. I went back and got through about 50% of the Freeplay stuff, then decided that I had enough. So, last night I installed Star Wars: Empire at War and started running through the tutorials. I’ll probably play that again tonight. I played the demo for the game a couple of months ago, and liked it and, now that I’m re-learning it, I remember why I liked it so much. Pucks and Wii
I’ve joined a fantasy hockey league up on Yahoo! with a bunch of people I know from work. It’s fun. I like it. I will do it again next year. I enjoy watching the games (the Lightning at least), but it adds a little more now because I have players on my fantasy team from all over the real league, and I think I’ll get to a point real soon where I’ll watch those teams play on TV as well. At least once in a while. Speaking of which, the Lightning play tonight. Excellent. I’m currently researching some ideas for some short films. I may start pre-production as early as November 1st. Nachos and Hockey
Thursday night I watched the season opener game between the Lightning and the Thrashers. Tampa’s new goalie, Marc Denis, was great in net even though he didn’t face many shots on goal. Ultimately, the Lightning rallied from a two point deficit and came back to tie it, forcing the game into overtime then into a shootout. Vinny Lecavalier won the game for Tampa when he was the only scorer in the final shootout. On getting all riled up over the Lightning’s win on Thursday, Shauna and I decided to get tickets for the game on Saturday. I ordered them Friday afternoon, and got the nosebleed seats (which we happen to enjoy a lot). The game on Thursday was Tampa’s first of the season, but was an away game in Atlanta. Brick and Books
Last night I saw this great independent movie Brick. It was a great frosh film-noir-style (but in color and with teenagers) whodunit by Rian Johnson. I loved the actors, the directing, and, overall, the story (Rian also wrote it). Check it out if you get a chance. Tonight I updated my comic book library and have updated the Digital Archive’s list as well. More to come this weekend and I get my shit in order.
Crazy Card
Today’s been interesting so far. I went lunch with Schafer and had to first stop at the drive-up ATM at the bank to deposit a couple of checks. We then decided to head to Jersey Mike’s for some kcik-ass subs. We get there, wait in line, and order the food (taking about 15 minutes total) and as we get to the register, I take out my wallet, open it, and notice that my debit card is not in my wallet. Of course, I just used it 30 minutes before at the ATM, so I’m rethinking what I did with it, and Schafer and I come to the conclusion that I must have left it in the ATM machine and drove away. Heroes
I watched that new show, Heroes, the other night on NBC. I’m really not a big fan of watching TV, but I wanted to see if this was on par with Battlestar Galactica (which I’ve watched a few episodes of and really liked a lot). And, I think it was pretty damned good. The special effects were decent and the story was pretty good. It’s tough to tell after the first episode, but it’s promising. I’ll end up watching the next two or three episodes to get a better idea. Now I just hope that there were enough viewers so NBC doesn’t pull the plug ala Star Trek:TOS. Adieu, Brother
The past week or so has been a mixture of me being lazy and things just going on as usual. Millard is leaving today for LA and will then, possibly, move on to Portland. We’ve been talking the past few days about projects and we’ve both agreed we’re going to shelf the movie for now. He’s not in the right mindset to work on it, and may not be for some time. How long will that be? Weeks or maybe even months. I promise that the movie will com out eventually, but Millard needs to concentrate on his Grand Adventure to the city of angels. I totally respect that. And envy it. It’s really awesome that he’s getting his life on the fast track and cashing in on all the hard work from the past ten years. No Sneezy, Please
Well, Millard has decided to move to Portland / Los Angeles in the next week or so. In the meantime, he’s staying at my place so he can get some things in order before he goes. I’m not 100% sure what’s going to happen to the movie, but I suspect I will continue to work on it and send him updates and allow him to remotely produce it. As for me, I’m in a position now where I need to organize my surroundings more. I’ve realized that, ever since everyone started staying with us around the 30th of August or so, that the apartment has gone to hell. My bedroom in particular is a complete mess and needs to be organized and cleaned up. I’ve also decided that I need to do something about all the dust and stuff and will start figuring out a good plan to minimize that...
Sayonara
Last night’s D&D session went really well. We all had some fun and the characters are all now third level. Ulfgar got hurt really bad by a crazy mage who decided to throw a huge burst of fire at him. Luckily, Aydan was there to heal Ulfgar and bring him back into the action. Unfortunately Diana will no longer be playing with us, as she’s headed off to school in Tallahassee. We’ll miss her! Luckily her character, Azerad, didn’t do anything innately foolish and may yet again join the party at some later date. I think I’m going to make a big batch of chili in the crock pot today. I’ve had a hankering for it lately. After I’m done writing this entry, I’m going to head to the grocery store, stop and pick up comics, and check the Suncoast Studios PO box.
