May Begins

I picked up the weekly comics this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find that World War III was in the stack. For the uninformed, WW3 is a DC book that chronicles the crazy shit Black Adam is doing to the planet while he’s on his insane killing spree thanks to the events in 52. It was a four-issue mini-series and I enjoyed it immensely. I think this is also the very last week of 52, and I’m going to be very happy to jump into Countdown after. I also got the latest issue of Fantastic Four. All I can say is I’m so happy to see the Surfer back in action. I know Marvel is really bringing him to the forefront because of the FF movie this summer, and I’m as happy as a pig in shit. The fact that Michael Turner did the cover this month helps...

Getting Fixed or Totaled?

Spring is in the air. Some rain showers have been moving through the area lately, the birds seem to be singing a little louder, and the greenery is coming back. My life has been --- guess! --- really, really hectic lately. I went to battle with my auto insurance company and the collision center over my car a couple of weeks ago. I even called Ford who sicced their collision people on them. At that point it had been three weeks and I hadn’t heard anything about the car. Was it going to be totaled? Were they going to fix it? There’s no way it should take three weeks to decide that. So, I got irritated and started making the nasty phone calls. The end result: Two days after I started making a stink, I hear from the insurance company that they’re gonna fix the car. I called the dealership...

Smash, Boom, Bang

I’ve heard it called the Zev-Mobile, the Beast, and “it”, but I simply call it my Mustang. Yesterday morning, at around 7:45am, my Mustang and I decided to go into battle on I-275 in St. Petersburg and, unfortunately, the laws of physics deemed the Mustang too weak to battle. I was heading to work. Near Tropicana Field, a car cut across multiple lanes of the highway and cut off the minivan in front of me. The minivan slammed on his brakes, I slammed on mine and rear-ended him. The left front of my car hit his rear right. I came to a stop with the front of my car sticking out into the lane to my right. A spilt-second later I heard the squeal of tires behind me and I braced for impact. The car behind me barrels into the left rear of the Mustang. I sat there in shock...

23

Last night, Millard, Devin and I went to the theater down the road and saw The Number 23. It was a pretty good suspense thriller over all. Jim Carrey was really good in it and after seeing him in non-comedic rolls (The Majestic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), I had a feeling he would do just fine in this movie. It had a couple of unexpected twists and turns and had, what I thought, was a refreshing ending. I also cataloged all the comics I had laying around for the last few weeks, and bagged and boarded them. I’ve updated the list in the Digital Archive. Sick Thought of the Day: Taught nuts in a vise make sweet cheese extracts.

Another Blog For You (Finally)

One again, it seems like forever since I’ve blogged. The odd thing is that I’ve been thinking about blogging a lot, but every time I go to do it I just seem too tired or busy to execute it. Well, I’ve had a good night’s sleep finally and nothing is going on right now so… The new job’s been great. It’s long hours and the work can be a little overwhelming, but it’s a lot of fun and the people are great. Yeah, yeah, I know I keep saying all that, but it’s so weird for me to deal with that. Traditionally, I’ve worked with companies that try to really keep this stiff business lip and that kind of environment really drains me. I feel that I’m a very creative person in general and really know my stuff professionally, and the sterile environment of some companies drains me like you...

Bye, Bye Miss January

This is a long overdue entry. I’ve been extremely busy getting acclimated with my new job. I get up at 6:00am, hit the road by 7:00am, and get to work sometime between 8:00am and 8:15am. I work until 5:00pm (sometimes 6:00pm) and get home around 6:00pm or 7:00pm. The drive is crazy. I have to drive 65 miles each way back and forth to Tampa. I’m very comfortable with the job now, and even when I leave work I’ve got tons of energy. However, by the time I get home that energy is gone and I’m exhausted from the drive. I need to learn how to relax on that somehow. I guess it’ll come in time. So, I usually go to bed around 10:00pm so that really only leaves me with about 3 good hours each night. And, if there’s a Lightning game on, I get home, change into shorts...

Cha-Ching

Well smack my ass and call me Captain-cheesemo-who-eats-the-black-mamba-when-he-gets-into-the-tub-and-has-three-burritos-for-lunch-and-then-farts-so-hard-he-feels-it-in-his-toes-and-hates-the-smell-of-his-own-sulfur-urine-bath-water-guy. Uh… What was I saying... Oh yeah, I got the job and accepted their offer tonight! Yay for me. The company is OneTouch Direct (stop chuckling Jeff). The company does customer service call volume overflow for clients such as Verizon wireless, Columbia House, and BlueMountain.com. The people there are really nice and the atmosphere is VERY laid back, with most people wearing jeans and shorts in the office. Even the President, who I interviewed with yesterday, was telling me that he hoped it was the last time he’d see me in a jacket and tie and that even he was dressed up in jeans, as he normally wore shorts. Crazy. I’ll be working from 8:00am to 5:00 to 5:30pm Monday thru Friday. The only downside of the job is that it’s one hour away from my place. Shauna and I may relocate...

Post-Christmas

This will most likely be my last blog entry for 2006. I feel that this year, overall, has been kind of a cruddy year. Of course, getting laid off was bad, but the loss of my father-in-law was, by far, the worst. I’ll be happy when this year is behind us and 2007 greets us with open arms. I really feel like 2007 will be a great year for me and Shauna. I think I’ve said that in the past, but I truly feel it this time. Anyway, enough of that… I updated the comic book list on the site. I’ll be updating it again this weekend after I pick up the last couple weeks worth of books. I got three new video games for Christmas: Big Brain Academy (DS), Age of Empires: The Age of Kings (DS), and Destroy All Humans! (Xbox). I’ve added the two DS games to...

Week In Review

Last Monday I worked on a new idea that I’m formulating. A couple of people already have seen a sneak-preview. I’m not going to say too much at this point, as I’m still in the R&D stage, but, if it happens, it’ll be pretty cool. And, of course, sick. Tuesday was all about the Ford dealership. I took my Mustang in to get a free oil change (I get them free with the car) at 9:00am. I actually go there about ten minutes early and the mechanics got the ball rolling immediately. I was told it’d be about an hour. So, running a little behind, around 10:35am they finally finished. I pick up the keys and walk over to the car and notice that the driver’s side front tire is really low on air. I went into the trunk and grabbed my digital air pressure gauge and find out that...

Slow Day

I got an early-morning call from my mom that my sister needed a ride home from the vet’s office. Evidently, her ride (a friend of the family) had to go to work and couldn’t wait around for her while my sister finished getting the paperwork finished for getting her cat’s nuts whacked off. I picked her up around 8:45am and we then went out for breakfast at McDonalds and then stopped off to take a look at a house they’ve been looking at buying. I put up a new section for my family today called the Wish List. It’s an area of the site that we can get to that allows up to build Christmas (or birthday, etc.) lists and then make notes on the lists so that we all know what we’re getting each other for said holiday. Of course, the person that entered their list into the system...
