Enjoying The Next 3,600 Minutes…

The way we view time is weird. It's Friday; I've got two whole days and change before I'm sitting back at my desk in my office...So, as I'm sitting here, I start to think: "Wow, all night tonight, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday... The weekend is here. All that time awaiting my arrival!" Seems like a long time. There's so much I could get done. Then, I do a Chewbode thing. For whatever reason, I decide to look at this weekend ahead of me as hours, not days. The weekend converts to about 60 hours. Hmm. 60 hours. When I say it to myself, it sounds like less time than the 2+ days I was just thinking of.Deeper down the rabbit hole I go... I then decide to think of the weekend in minutes. 3,600 minutes until I'm back at work. That seems like even less time than 60...

Frank, Vlad, and That Hairy Dude…

So, this weekend I saw Van Helsing at the local theater. Pretty good movie, in general. I thought the special effects were pretty good, but the story needed a bit more. Overall, was just a good ol' action movie. My wife's been a big horror movie fan since she was a kid, so she got a big kick out of seeing the monsters on screen. Oh, and she sited Hugh Jackman as a good reason to see it also. I dunno... I think Hugh could easily be the next Harrison Ford. He was good in Kate & Leopold; it really showed he can play parts that have nothing to do with blockbuster super heroes, etc. Of course, when he does play a blockbuster super-hero, he kicks ass. Snikt! Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that I finished Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Great game. I highly recommend it...

To Conquer the Frustration of Entertainment

A few days ago I decided to commit myself to finishing some video games that I've had lying around the apartment. You see, I'm not a HUGE gamer, but I do love the escape a game can provide. There are several games I own that I've started only to lay them down in frustration. Game #1: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Playstation 2). I started in on it yesterday and had a hell of a time getting past the level I was on. Of course, this was why I decided not to play further the last time I played it. Hmm. So, I tried and tried. And then I got irritated. Irritation led to suffering. Suffering lead to pain. Pain leads to anger. Anger leads to the Dark Side. So, not wanting to be absorbed into that weird Sith culture, I decided to relieve the irritation (and no,...

Habs Have Not

I am a hockey fan. Actually, let me go off on this for a minute, as I once was a fan, then became a non-fan, then was a re-born fan... Wait a minute... Hold on a sec. I gotta straighten this out... I played hockey from the age of 8 to 16. It was a fun time; I was pretty good, but at the beginning of my sophomore year of High School, my family moved to Florida. Now, there are a lot of great things that have happened to me since moving here, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. But, hockey went out the window, as there was really no such thing down here then... Damn. So, being a kid and loving hockey, I naturally followed it closely. After moving, I left it behind in a (sad) attempt to re-structure my life in my new environment. Now, if...

The Color Of Mice

So, last week I ordered a couple of really cool mouse pads for my computer. I say "a couple", because I ordered one for the office and one for home. My co-worker, Jon, pointed out a great article on Slashdot that lead to me looking at a bunch of reviews. So, I ended up ordering from newegg.com. The order arrived at the office today around 11:15am, and I immediately opened the box, plugged one of the pads into my work machine, and voila! I have to say, it's pretty cool for only $20.00; there're 7 colors plus the ability to do a "color cycling" effect. Anyway, Jon was envious of me for a little while. I got home and installed the other one. After messing around with it for a bit, I think I've decided that the blue color is my favorite. For now. I'm just in that blue mood,...
